PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY US

As a Swiss NGO, it is a matter close to our heart to support projects sustainably. We can only do this in close partnership with local experts. One of these experts is Mama Leah. Many of the board members have known her for more than 10 years and so a deep trust could be built up. Mama Leah has a big heart for children and gives everything for them. Thus, with our support, she has founded her own local NGO: Maisha Bora. Our projects in Tanzania all come together at Mama Leah and therefore go through Maisha Bora. She always knows what is pending where and above all where the money is spent. Basically, the projects can be summarized in three pillars. Click on the picture to learn more.

MAISHA BORA CHILDREN’S HOME

In 2020 Mama Leah founded Maisha Bora with a children's home. This provides a safe home for 8 children. In addition, an opportunity was created for 18+ year olds to attend vocational training and remain together in another home.

MAPINGA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Mapinga is a state/public elementary school. NUKIA provides breakfast and also supports with other donations in kind. Furthermore, employees of Maisha Bora offer a Saturday club for the holistic development of the poorest children.

HEALTH PROJECT

NUKIA assists by covering the costs of health insurance. Winrose is a trained nurse and makes home visits to sick children and takes them to the doctor if necessary. She also educates on various health topics primarily for the children and parents of the Mapinga School.
