Finally the big day was here: the children of Mapinga School, our kids from Maisha Bora, as well as the team and the teachers had been looking forward to it and preparing for it for weeks. In Tanzania, the school vacations had started for one month at the end of May and still more than 1600 children, teachers and our whole team met in the morning at the school square to celebrate the Day of the African Child.

On June 16, this day was celebrated. For this purpose, individual classes have prepared various performances: Dances, presentations, musical interludes, as well as various team games were rehearsed for the day and presented with great joy.

In the team games such as soccer, netball or rope pulling, the winning groups won various school materials such as books, pencils and colored pens. In addition, for 100 children there were school T-shirts and socks as a gift. These children were selected together with our team and the teachers, because these are children who grow up in very difficult structures and are therefore very grateful for this support.

All this gave hunger and thirst and so each child was provided with snacks and drinks. At 5 p.m. the program was officially finished and as a conclusion the Maisha Bora team was able to give each child a small bread to take home. As a small thank-you for the great cooperation with the school and the successful work, Mama Leah could to present the 32 teachers and the Maisha Bora team with a Spitzbuben. We ordered these delicious delicacies from the Tuwapende Watoto training center and their apprentices prepared them for us in the bakery.

Thank you very much for this great cooperation! We appreciate it very much and are happy that this order worked so smoothly and that we were able to put a smile on the faces of so many children and also the teachers.
