Day of the African Child (Youth Day) is an international day of remembrance that takes place on June 16, 2021. It was introduced in 1991 and commemorates the beginning of the race riots in Soweto (1976) near Johannesburg.

We also wanted to have a good time with the children.

Mama Leah and her team have prepared a great program together with the children:

Experience something together, share something together, be there for one another, be together with those who are not doing so well in this world.

In cooperation with the public school Mapinga everyone devoted work to make the children have a nice day.

Why this school?

Three of our children, Issa, Nurudin and Anjelina, go to this school together with 900 children from the Kerege area. There is a kindergarten, primary and high school classes on this area.

June 16, 2021 was all about games, fun, dance, music and of course a lecture on the historical background of the African Children's Day was not to be missed.

After so much exercise, you also need something to drink and a juice / soda and cookies and cake is a great surprise.

Before they went home and children's day was officially ended, each school child was allowed to receive a sack of beans and rice and bring it home to their family.

The many pictures made by Masia and Abdala speak volumes, you can feel the emotions, the gratitude, the joy and the rhythm of the music.

The children from the Mapinga School say thank you very much for this day.
